I had to block this user from adding me on flickr.
Their photostream was filled with photos like that.
I don’t think I have ever been more petrified in my entire life.
reminds me of Pulp Fiction

math
i used to hate math up til the 6th grade.. i remember it was the day we went to get our last report card, and my math teacher told me i had the potential to be very good at math if i just put my mind to it.. (and it’s funny because i had been getting C’s throughout the year!)
she told me to consider taking the Pre-Algebra test thing that would be administered at the beginning of the seventh grade (Pre-Algebra’s normally supposed to be an 8th grade class or something)
so when i got to the seventh grade and they handed out the tests at math class, i took it, not really giving it much though.. and to my surprise, i did very well, and got into Pre-Algebra.
i did well, i got an A the first two terms, but then i started slacking off, and i got a B the third term, and a C the last term. :P
i had to re-take the class in the 8th grade because I didn’t make it to Algebra.. and i still ended up getting a C.. (i was a slacker…:P)
and when high school came up, i did good, got A’s in my math classes and whatnot..
i’m aiming towards becoming in English college professor.. but it’s funny because when i had to take the SAT’s, i got a higher score on the math sections than i did on the english.
and here i am in college, i got an A+ in college mathmatics, and these past two semesters i’ve been taking Math for Elementary Students and i’ve been doing well in that class.
and it’s funny because this semester we had to do a bunch of group work for these ‘problem sets’ (16/17 questions, and we’d have to solve them, and explain how we got the answers)
and you’d think it’d be easy because the questions are supposed to be for elementary students, but it’s actually quite hard.
i’m usually the one who solves most of the questions, and explains them to our group.. but i still tend to get the lowest grade because my explanations aren’t thorough enough.
and yesterday was our last class before our final, and at the end the professor gave us this extra credit problem..
and guess who from our group solved it and explained to the group how she did it?
this girl did. hehe
it felt great.
my dad is really good at math, and he helped me with my homework a few times in the sixth grade.. so sometimes whenever i call home, i tell my mom about how good i’m doing in that math class, and i tell her to tell my dad.. haha
i doubt she does, and that he’d really care,
but still. it feels good to be able to say- ‘hey, i’m good at math too.’
if i wasn’t so stubborn and determined to focus my career on english, i’d consider becoming a math teacher.
